My  Story

My name is Alexa Scott and I am a 25-year-old from Manitoba and a proud member of the Long Tack Speed Skating National Team. I moved to Calgary in 2019 to pursue speed skating. Making the move to Calgary helped me in qualifying for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. As well, I am a student at the University of Calgary in Economics and the assistant coach of the Calgary Speed Skating Associations Adult group.

Over Coming Injury

After the 2022 Olympics I sustained a injury to my right hip while racing in Norway. This injury kept me from not only being able to skate to my full ability, but also to live pain free. I struggled with nerve pain throughout my lower back consistently for years. However thanks to the diligent work of my coach and physio I have been able to train and live without this nerve pain for the past year. With this injury behind me I believe I can make bigger strides in my skating career in the near future.

Throughout my time skating, I have worked hard to represent my province not only nationally but also internationally. To this day I look up to the strong Manitoban woman such as Cindy Klassen and Shannon Rempel who have paved the way for me.

My career has had its share of highlights, and I want to create more momentum in the future. I hope to be the next chapter and propel Canada and Manitoba onto the international stage by building my racing repertoire with more World Cups and World Championships.
